The City Council authorized
two resolutions making use of the recently relinquished land. In the first resolution, council members voted
to provide the University of Alabama with $84,000 in matching money for an upgrade in dock
facilities at Manderson Landing. The city's money will be used by UA along with
federal funding and grant money now being sought to finance the addition of
eight handicapped-accessible transient slips, a safe harbor, a pump-out station
and dockside electric service.
The university was recently
granted the eastern portion of the Park at Manderson Landing, formerly RiverRoadPark, by the federal government and will take control Aug.
